Jollibee resumes dine-in across 1,000 branches nationwide

Jollibee Foods Corp said Monday it has resumed dine-in operations and intensified safety protocols in over 1,000 outlets nationwide, weeks after COVID-19 lockdowns started to ease.

Home of the famous Chickenjoy, Jollibee intensified safety measures in compliance with health standards set by the government, the country's largest restaurant operator said in a statement.

Store staff undergo a "rigorous safety process" such as temperature checks, filling up daily health forms, wearing of face masks, shield and gloves and sanitation of all utensils everyday, it said.

Store fixtures and hard surfaces are cleaned every 30 minutes while self-order kiosks are disinfected after every use, it added.

Jollibee said tables were equipped with guards and markers to allow customers to enjoy their meals "with peace of mind." Hygiene Ambassadors are also deployed to ensure compliance of safety protocols, it said.

Customers are also required to go through a 3-step safety check before entering the stores including sanitizing of show soles, wearing of face masks, filling up a contact tracing form and temperature check, Jollibee said.

A "no touch" ordering policy is also observed, while cashless payments are encouraged to lessen physical contact, it said.

“Now, as we welcome customers back into our stores, we will continue to uphold our commitment to providing best-tasting food by further elevating our safety standards and safeguarding the welfare of both our store team and customers,” said Jollibee Philippines President Ferns Yu.

JFC unit Mang Inasal also said it has implemented enhanced health measures after stores reopened for dine-in.

Customers are required to wear face masks and those with a temperature of 37.5-degrees celsius and lower will be allowed to enter, Mang Inasal said in a separate statement.

A foot disinfection mat is placed at the entrance, as well as sanitizers it said. Customers are also mandated to fill out health forms, maintain physical distancing and to use contactless payments, the brand said.

Similar to Jollibee, the crew also follow strict hygiene and food handling protocols. Surfaces are disinfected every 30 minutes, while face masks, shields, gloves as well as frequent hand-washing are required for all staff, it said.

The country's coronavirus task force and the Department of Trade and Industrty allowed dine-in options after Metro Manila and other areas transitioned to general community quarantine on June 1.

Dine-in capacity has been expanded to up to 50 percent in areas under general community quarantine. Areas under modified GCQ can accommodate up to 75 percent starting July 21.
