Korina Sanchez has confirmed that she will be leaving ABS-CBN after working at the network for more than three decades.
In a comment by a netizen on her Instagram post, Korina answered the question of whether ABS-CBN will leave her.
The netizen asked, “Is that true? Iiwan mo na po ang ABS-CBN?"
The 55-year-old veteran broadcaster responded directly, "Nawala na ang prangkisa eh… "
ABS-CBN's legislative franchise expired on May 4. The next day, May 5, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) filed a cease and desist order to ABS-CBN to stop broadcasting.
On July 10, Congress rejected ABS-CBN’s application for a franchise renewal with a vote of 70-11.
The current administration has been vocal in its criticism of the network due to issues regarding its election coverage in 2016. President Rodrigo himself has spoken against the Lopez-owned network and the Lopez family, which he calls an “oligarchy.”
From ABS-CBN to TV5?
Last Friday, August 14, a netizen asked Korina if she was moving to TV5.
Korina replied to the question, “Watch out for the next chapter. Thank you for the love."
The broadcast of Korina’s program Rated K continues on ABS-CBN’s Facebook, where its title has been changed to Rated Korina Digital.
