Third telco operator Dito Telecommunity hopes to build its own 5G mobile network in two or three years.
“The network that we’re setting up initially is 4G. Why? Because right now, almost all of the phones in the market are not 5G-compatible,” DITO chief administrative officer Adel Tamano said in an interview with CNN Philippines’ Pinky Webb.
Tamano thinks the Philippines will not be fully ready to adopt 5G technology until 2022 or 2023.
“Once we start bringing 5G phones and 5G becomes more mature, it becomes a simple thing for us to change our equipment into 5G equipment,” he said.
